Angela Agore, Lead Nurse for Research at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, has been named Overseas Nurse of the Year at the 2025 Nursing Times Workforce Awards, recognising her outstanding contributions to patient care, research and global nursing leadership.
Agore’s career journey from Ghana to the United Kingdom embodies resilience and purpose. Since taking on the role of Lead Research Nurse, she has played a pivotal role in elevating the Trust’s performance in clinical research recruitment, helping it rise from 10th to 3rd place regionally. She has also worked to ensure that research studies undertaken by the Trust reflect the needs and diversity of its local community.
Her influence extends far beyond the organisation. As the UK Lead for the Ghanaian Diaspora Nursing Alliance, Agore supports a network of more than 600 nurses, mentors emerging leaders, and advocates for equitable healthcare policies on international platforms. Her work has positioned her as a strong voice for diversity, inclusion and professional advancement within global nursing.
