An 18-year-old British-Nigerian student, Abiola Abidoye, has achieved the highest A-level score in Law across the United Kingdom in 2025, marking a remarkable academic milestone.
The Ipswich-based student, who studied at One Sixth Form College, not only earned the top national score in Law—224 out of 240 marks—but also achieved A* grades in Law, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics.
Abiola’s record-breaking performance secured him immediate admission to Imperial College London, one of the UK’s most prestigious universities.
Passion for Law, Strength in Numbers
Despite excelling in mathematics and physics, Abiola said his choice to study Law stemmed from pure interest.
“I am very passionate about different types of law—even some we didn’t cover, like human rights. It was just a fun lesson I wanted to do. I wasn’t expecting to do so well in it,” he explained.
Reflecting on his achievement, he admitted the journey was far from easy.
“I put in an immense amount of work into this. I stayed up very late studying and put a lot of pressure on myself to try and achieve it. It was very difficult, but I’m pretty happy. The teachers at One Sixth Form College were wonderful and helped me a lot.”
Looking Ahead
Although his Law score topped the nation, Abiola will pursue a degree in Mathematics at Imperial College London, aiming for a career in banking or finance. He believes his combined strengths in maths and law will give him a unique edge in the financial sector.
“My Law result was the first to be released, and seeing that I had topped the nation gave me confidence as I waited for my other subjects,” he added.
