Specialist police officers have been deployed across Sheffield city centre and Meadowhall shopping centre this week as part of Project Servator, a security initiative designed to keep the public safe.
Unlike standard patrols, Project Servator officers are specially trained to identify suspicious behaviour and the early signs of criminal activity, including terrorism.
Police say the deployments are unpredictable, meaning they can take place at any time and in any location. Operations also involve a mix of uniformed officers, plain-clothed police, and live CCTV monitoring teams.
As part of the project, officers work closely with security guards, staff, and local businesses to build a strong network of vigilance across Sheffield.
Authorities are urging the public to play their part by remaining alert and reporting anything unusual.
Members of the public can report concerns to police officers, security staff, or by calling 101. In emergencies, always dial 999.
